Lola is one half of a pair of kittens living with a couple of our friends (see Diva). This is not their first portrait, and this time we decided to use an Ancient Egypt context for them. The Goddess Bastet is an Egyptian cat deity, said to be the "Mother of All Strays", or rather of all Cats, and a symbol of prosperity, protecting the household and the health of her humans. Here, Bastet becomes Lola, portrayed among Lotus flowers as in aforementioned Diva's portrait, a beautiful ceramic frame and a golden background blended into the Acanthus walpaper by William Morris, one of my favourites. On her head she has an Egyptian tiara with three stylised lotus flowers, and wears a beautiful gold chain, but very simple.
