This is my portrait of Mildred, an elderly free-tailed bat, who is gladly living her twilight years in the Sanctuary.
She is very small and loves to eat her little insects, besides being extremely sociable and friedly - with humans and other bats as well.
I have decided to portray her in old-fashioned clothes, with laces and tartans and a little top hat. In her hands she carries her plush "Mildred", which she is proud to display. She is happy among the dragonflies, which not only look nice but also represent her main source of nourishment, ie, insects.
As a youngster she spent many winters flying to Central America as to escape the cold in Texas. Now, she is having the rest she deserves after a life so full of adventures and dangers!
