Male and Female Swinhoe's pheasants from Taiwan... The bird in the second plate below is based on a photo by David Gascoigne, that I found in the web. Gascoigne has wonderful pictures of wild birds. Note these are two types of watercolours. Some with plain, white backgrounds, and the others with a decorative element. I am favouring the latter at the moment, inserting the birds into a floral, almost grungy and distressed environment.
